MBS - Managed Bandwidth Service

Part of the Quantum Technical Programme December 1998 - November 2001
Objective(s)	To allow research groups/projects to request bandwidth for specified periods of time, connecting specified nodes, with various service guaranties. Enabling end-to-end guaranteed capacity between sets of hosts or networks across Europe.
Achievements	Successful organisation and management of string of VPNs based on ATM virtual path connections (VPCs) for projects and events. Identification of exact operational procedures and required support tools.
Milestones	February 1999: completion of the Alpha phase. March 1999: start of the Beta phase. September 1999: completion of Beta phase. October 1999: start of the production service
