- Improving efficiency in delivering multicast services to NRENs, initially through TEN-34, overcoming three shortcomings: manageability, bandwidth usage and scalability.

Milestones
|
- February 1998: Reorganisation of Mbone started.
- April 1998: Migration to new Mbone topology on TEN-34 completed.
- October 1998: TEN-34 Mbone declared a success.
- April 1999: Preparation for migration of Mbone to TEN-155 - installing and testing new set-up as part of QTP (for details see paper "TEN-155 Multicast" below).
- November 1999: Multicast tests results in QTP Interim Report (see QTP Document Library).
- June 2000: Multicast tests results in QTP Final Report (see QTP Document Library).
- October 2001: Migration to GÉANT infrastructure, culminating in GÉANT Multicast Service.
