EUMEDCONNECT

Objective(s)	EUMEDCONNECT aims to transform the scale and reach of Mediterranean research networking, foster greater levels of research collaboration, and help accelerate the rate of development of the Internet in the region.
Achievements	EUMEDCONNECT is the first research and education network for the Mediterranean region. Starting in 2004, 11 project partners are now connected and benefiting from a high capacity network dedicated to users of the research and academic community.
(Co-)Funding	The European Commission is actively supporting EUMEDCONNECT.The EC’s EUMEDIS programme is providing funding up to 10 million euro as a contribution of up to 80% of the total costs of the project.
Partners	The EUMEDCONNECT project is co-ordinated by DANTE and partnered by the four European NRENs that border the Mediterranean region. All have considerable expertise in establishing and running major research networks. The Mediterranean partners for the project are represented by their national research and education networks.
