Objective(s)
  1. Increase direct Internet connectivity for research and education between Europe and Asia.
  2. Improve intra-regional connectivity within Asia.
  3. Act as a catalyst for the development of national research networking in the developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Achievements
  • TEIN2 is the first large-scale research and education network for the Asia-Pacific.
  • It connects ten countries in the region, and provides direct connectivity to Europe’s GÉANT2 network.
(Co-)Funding European Commission funding up to 10 M Euro/80% funding for beneficiaries, others participate at own cost.
Partners TEIN2 is targeted at the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) partners, who are represented in TEIN2 by organisations with expertise in the field of research and education networking.

The European partners (which comprise the Member States of the European Union) are represented by the research networks of France (RENATER), the Netherlands (SURFnet) and the United Kingdom (UKERNA).
 
The Asia-Pacific partners are Australia, Brunei, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, the Phillipines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
